10 Foods That Can Be Used as Cosmetics

Disappointed by cosmetics sold in stores? Do you know that you have the solution near you? Here is a small selection of the foods that can be used as masks or beauty creams.

1. Grapefruit

Mental fatigue? Frizzy and dull hair? Grapefruit will save you! An excellent fruit detox, it tones and helps the regeneration of the epidermis. It is also a good antiseptic.

Directions for use: to unify the complexion, press a grapefruit, let the extract rest about ten minutes and apply with a cottonball on a cleaned skin. Do not rinse. For shiny hair, use grapefruit juice as a conditioner.

2. The tomato

An excellent weapon against blackheads: the tomato is rich in vitamins, antioxidants and minerals. It purifies, disinfects and brightens your skin. Be careful, the tomato is discouraged for sensitive skin, its acidity is higher than that of a lemon.

Directions for use: cut a tomato into very thin slices and place them on the T-zone of your face, let stand about 15 minutes.

3. Coffee grounds

This scrub 100% organic. Instead of throwing away your coffee grounds, use them as a scrub. Its small grains give it the qualities of a very effective exfoliant.

Directions for use: Mix the coffee grounds with your shower gel and use on the driest areas of your body (elbow, knees and feet). For the face it is best to dilute with honey. Rinse the coffee grounds with lukewarm water and especially moisturize your skin, even if it seems greasy.

4. The cucumber

The tireless antistress reliever. A concentrated vitamin B6 allows the cucumber to smooth, refresh and relax your skin. Full of water, it is the perfect moisturizer.

Directions for use: It is used alone (arranged in thin rounds about twenty minutes on your face) or in a preparation. Mixed with 5 leaves of mint, 50 ml of milk and 2 drops of grapefruit seed extract, all mixed and sieved, cucumber becomes the essential ingredient of your new moisturizing lotion.

5. The egg

For clearer skin, the egg white is your ally. High in protein, it helps regulate excess sebum while cleaning your skin.

Directions for use: separate the white from the yolks. Arrange the egg white on your face and let it dry for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. For very oily skin, add a teaspoon of lemon juice to the preparation.

6. Honey

The balm of winter. Perfect in this season where our skin is confronted with strong thermal variations, honey soothes the epidermis.

Directions for use: mix the honey with a piece of banana and a tablespoon of yogurt and apply the preparation on your face for about ten minutes. Rinse with warm water.

7. Olive oil

The natural anti-wrinkle: olive oil. Known and recognized for its benefits, its content of vitamin E and polyphenols slow the ageing of the skin. Softening and moisturizing for the skin, it can also be used on your hair as a night mask to give them strength and shine.

Directions for use: It can be used alone and applied to areas of your skin most irritated. Accompanied by honey powder in an emulsion, it should be spread as a balm. For hair, apply pure olive oil in the evening and rinse in the morning with your usual shampoo.

8. The strawberry

9. The banana
